Atlantic Beach NC - Beautiful Beaches, Homes, and Sunsets
Atlantic Beach, NC is located in Carteret County and was the first town on Bogue Banks. This island is part of southern Outer Banks of North Carolina. It has been a favorite vacation spot for many NC residents and those along the eastern seaboard. You will find beautiful beaches and areas on the sound side that offer many fishing and water activities. There are about 1,800 permanent residents, but during the summer seasons, the population will be closer to 30 or 35,000. Fort Macon is a civil war fort and now a 398-acre state park at the southern end of Atlantic Beach. You will find it to be very interesting historical place to visit and enjoy the water views at that end of the banks.
Atlantic Beach is connected to the rest of Carteret County and Morehead City by a four-lane, high-rise bridge that allows water craft to navigate Bogue Sound and the Intra-Coastal waterway.
Atlantic Beach has many events going on throughout the year such as the Atlantic Beach King Mackerel Tournament, the Atlantic Beach National Night Out Celebration, and Independence Day Fireworks Display. Atlantic Beach also offers many restaurants serving fresh local seafood, plus many shops, marinas, and other water-related businesses. Bogue Banks and Atlantic Beach has many beautiful North Carolina beach houses where you can wake up to smell of salt air and enjoy sunsets on the beach.
